Line Systems
Parallel and different direction arranged line systems define this series.
Multilayered applications of paint on black and grey surfaces intensify the color
and set it in direct relation to the background. Dense linear structures generate
visual impulses that keep the eye in constant motion. At its core is the line as an
autonomous element - defined by density, displacement, and its relational effect
within the formation.
Christian Eder is an Austrian contem-
porary artist based in Vienna, Illmitz and

and object-based works, extending into spatial
systems shaped over long-term processes.

SPATIAL SYSTEMS
The Spatial Systems series extends pictoral structures into real space.
Based on constructive, modular systems, installative situations emerge
in which space itself becomes the carrier of the works. Linear and planar
elements are transferred into spatial constellations and interweave with
the architectural space. The works operate between painting, objecthood,
and installation. Order is generated in space, not reprensented.
Object structures are positioned between painting, relief and spatial objecthood. Painted wooden bodies extend the pictorial field into space.
OBJECTS
The Object series shifts the conditions of painting between panel and object.
Painting on the surface is extendet into spatial wooden structures that assert
a physical presence. The works operate with acrylic and oil on solid wood and
plywood bodies, redefining the image as a material field between surface and
space.
Grid structures organised through geometrical and spatial order.
GRIDS
The Grids series is based on the grid as a constant system of order.
This structure is reinforced or nearly dissolved through multilayered
formations of parallel planes. Constellations emerge in which lines and
surfaces enter into a fragile balance. Between order and movement,
pictorial spaces unfold through structure, density and dissolution.
The works are organised in distinct yet interconnected series. Each develops through investigation,
where repetition, variation and reduction generate shifting visual relationships over time.
Together, the series form an open body of work in which painting, objects and spatial systems
remain in continuous dialogue.
